Feist Still On TCU's Radar

Feist Still On TCU's Radar

Houston Langham Creek quarterback Connor Feist is having a big senior season.

The 2012 high school regular season in Texas is nearly complete as teams prepare for their final games of the season this week. Next week the real fun begins as teams begin their march through the playoffs in hopes of bringing home a state championship.

For some players, more particularly seniors still trying to impress college scouts, the playoffs are the perfect avenue to land on college radars. Langham Creek signal caller Connor Feist is hoping to land back on the radar of several schools.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder was thought of as one of the top quarterbacks in the Houston area prior to this season but an injury to his L3 vertebrae prevented him from going through spring ball and 7-on-7 tournaments over the summer.

Now, he's back to 100% and his team is racking up the wins with a 7-1 district record.

"It's going good, we beat Cy-Ridge on Saturday 37-21 to pretty much wrap up the district title so I'm pretty happy about that," Feist said. "This week we play Cy-Lake so if we win that we should be the single champs of 17-5A which is something I don't think Langham Creek has ever done.

"It was a goal for me personally since my sophomore year coming into a program that wasn't known for winning. I sat down with some guidelines and made it one of my goals to turn this program around. I think it's definitely showing that we're going in the right direction."

Not only is Fiest helping his team win ball games, he's turning in his best season in three years as a starter. On the season he's completed 187-of-307 passes for 2,751 yards with 21 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions.

"It's a personal best for me in my three seasons," Fiest said of his season. "We have two receivers, Dominique Harris and Caleb Hobbs on the verge of breaking 1,000 yard seasons so that's a big thing for them. I don't really keep up with my stats as much as other people do; I'm just really concerned with how the team is winning and championships."

One team that Feist recently spoke with is TCU when he spoke with offensive line coach Eddie Williamson. It's been a while since he's spoken with a member of the Frogs' staff. He did attend a TCU junior day in March and was told then that he was on their radar. Apparently, he's back on it.

"He told me that I was one of about four quarterbacks left that they're recruiting and they still haven't offered another quarterback from 2013 so they're keeping their options open," he said of his talk with Williamson. "He said Coach Burns was going to call me sometime and he said they were trying to get down to a game, maybe the first playoff game which is predicted to be against Eisenhower."

A pair of Texas schools could be the closest to offering Feist.

"UTEP and UTSA have both said I'm their number one recruit for 2013 at quarterback," he said. "Southeastern Louisiana came by the other day and said they were really interested. As for other schools, not too much; I think a lot of schools scratched me after I was injured last spring."

Throughout the process Feist has maintained his interest for TCU. What would an offer from TCU mean?

"It would be an honor to get an offer from TCU, that'd be amazing," Fiest said. "They're definitely a program that has had some winning seasons in the past."
