Three-star Punter Commits to Rutgers

Rutgers received a verbal commitment tonight from a three-star punter. St. Peters's College (Adelaide, South Australia) Dean Crozier made his commitment to the program and is the 21st to do so in the recruiting class.

Dean Crozier, a 24-year old punter from St. Peter's College (Adelaide, South Australia), verbally committed to Rutgers tonight.

Crozier does not have formal punting experience, but ranks in as a three-star recruit and the No. 6 punter in 2013.

"Yes I commited to Rutgers," Crozier told

Crozier is a 6-foot-5, 240-pound prospect that officially visited last week. He is a product of the Chris Sailer kicking school.

"Dean may end up being one of the best punters to every come through Chris Sailer Kicking," Sailer said. "He has the physical size and strength to dominate the D1 level. Recently picked up punting and has made tremendous strides in a short amount of time – a big time prospect that has NFL written all over him with hard work."

Crozier made an official visit to Rutgers for the Louisville game. He was also being recruited by Florida State.

The decision to head to Rutgers is important as the Scarlet Knights look to improve a punting game that was wildly inconsistent during the 2012 season.

Justin Doerner, who will graduate after the season, averaged 37.4 yards per punt this season.

Although Crozier hails from Australia, he is currently in the United States. Recommended Stories
